Now, to test its effectiveness under real-world conditions, we’ve taken on a new challenge: an intensive field trial on a fleet of city buses.
For three months, we evaluated the performance of EFFINOX® in an everyday application like urban public transport in a large city. To do this, we partnered with MOL Hungary, which installed EFFINOX® on a fleet of buses to conduct the field tests.
The goal was to verify whether our solution can protect the SCR system, prevent the accumulation of urea deposits, eliminate existing deposits in the short term, and reduce vehicle maintenance frequency.
A real-world test of EFFINOX®, our anti-crystallizing agent for the AdBlue® system
The field test with EFFINOX® was conducted on a Euro 6 bus operating daily urban routes during the first quarter of the year, from January to April 2025. Before the start of this field test, images from the SCR system showed a significant buildup of urea crystals, particularly around the injector.
Equipped with a standard SCR system, the bus covered approximately 13,000 kilometers during the three-month test. This figure illustrates the intensive use of public transport in a large city.
Urea crystallization is a defect that occurs primarily in vehicles with intermittent operation, such as tractors, delivery vans, or buses. Over time, these deposits can cause blockages and error codes in the AdBlue® system, leading to unplanned downtime and increased maintenance costs.
EFFINOX® in action: real SCR system cleaning in just three months
The bus’s SCR system was monitored regularly to ensure the effective performance of EFFINOX® | AdBlue® Premium Solution. The end result shows a significant difference: the SCR system appears visibly cleaner, with minimal residue and no injector blockages. Furthermore, no AdBlue®-related fault codes were recorded during the test.
In addition to the visual improvements, these months of testing also revealed a reduction in the frequency of SCR system maintenance. Thus, EFFINOX® has demonstrated improved vehicle performance and greater technical efficiency.
