At GreenChem, we are committed to delivering innovative solutions for emission reduction across industries. While many of you are familiar with our flagship products, AdBlue® and EFFINOX, designed for road vehicles and industrial applications, we’re thrilled to share our offering for the maritime sector. Introducing AUS40, an advanced urea solution specifically tailored for the marine industry, ensuring efficient NOx control for larger vessels.

What is AUS40?

AUS40, designed for marine ISO18611 applications, blends demineralized water and urea (40% urea content). It functions as a reduction agent in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology, controlling and removing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from vessel engines. Compared to AdBlue® (which has a 32.5% urea content and is better suited for smaller engines), AUS40’s higher concentration allows it to meet the unique demands of bigger vessels, making it the optimal solution for marine clients who require efficient and reliable NOx emission control.

Why Does the Marine Industry Need AUS40?

The maritime sector faces increasing pressure to meet stricter environmental regulations and emission standards. Large vessels, with powerful engines and higher fuel consumption, produce significant NOx emissions, contributing to air pollution. SCR technology, combined with AUS40, offers a proven and effective way to meet these regulations by reducing NOx emissions to near-zero levels, ensuring compliance without compromising performance.

AUS40 addresses two key needs for the marine industry:

  1. Efficiency for Larger Vessels: Its higher urea concentration delivers enhanced reduction power, ideal for the operational demands of large-scale marine engines.
  2. Reliability for Compliance: Using AUS40 ensures that vessels stay within the regulatory standards set by organizations like IMO (International Maritime Organization).

Success Story

GreenChem recently demonstrated its logistics expertise during an AUS40 delivery for our customer Mareneco (France). We supplied 35 cubic meters of AUS40 to the vessel ONE RESILIENCE at the Port of Algeciras, Spain.

This delivery posed a unique challenge: the vessel’s connection point was 20 meters high, requiring a strong solution to pump the AUS40 onboard. Using a 30-meter hose and a compressor set at 2 bar, we successfully completed the delivery in 7 hours. Despite the challenge, our team delivered on time, showcasing our ability to handle unexpected situations and meet customer needs.

To improve future operations, we’ve taken lessons from this delivery and will now use dedicated pumps to make the process even smoother. This success highlights GreenChem’s reliability and dedication to serving the marine industry.

Why Choose AUS40?

AUS40 is the ideal choice for companies operating large vessels like container ships, tankers, and cargo freighters. Thanks to GreenChem’s extensive production network in Europe and Brazil, we can reliably supply bulk quantities of AUS40 to meet your needs.
